The ethos of our firm of quality and integrity applies to our articling program, where you will be exposed to a wide range of areas. We do not incorporate a rotation program as we feel such arrangements are detrimental to the client and do not adequately train a junior lawyer.

As an articling student at Hustwick Payne you will be asked to involve yourself in a file right from initial instruction to closing. You will attend court and you will meet with clients and maintain a dialogue with them. Our firm hires students with a view to training them to ultimately be lawyers with this firm. Even though an articling student may know of a specialized area in which he or she wishes to practice we are committed, during the articling year, and often for the first few years of practice, in ensuring a successful candidate receives training and exposure to a multitude of areas.

Hustwick Payne provides a full range of legal service in transactional and contentions matters, covering all areas of commercial law.

We are organized into two main divisions: corporate, including financing and banking, and litigation and arbitration. In addition, we have seven specialist departments covering oil & gas, real estate, wills and estates, mergers and acquisitions, securities, commercial litigation and family law.

Our corporate division is well known for advising on high profile corporate transactions while our litigation department maintains it’s pre-eminence in contentious work.
